Okay, I'd like to revise my list of top 10 movies that made me cry. How could I have left out the wonderful Mr Holland's Opus? Alright, some may call it overly sentimental. Mike Clark from USA Today called it "An overwrought Disney weeper", but I believe all of us could use a good cry once in a while. And no other film makes me cry more than Mr Holland's Opus -- that wonderfully touching moment when the girl finally hits the note on her clarinet by "playing the sunset", the sad and unexpected death of that black drummer boy/wrestler, the overwhelmingly moving tribute scene at the end of the film and of course, the scene where Mr Holland finally connects with his deaf son by singing to him on stage...
Now, which of the 10 films should I kick out of my list to make way for Mr Holland's Opus? I'd gladly kick out the embarrassing Independence Day anytime.
Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy)
by John Lennon
Close your eyes,
Have no fear,
The monsters gone,
He's on the run and your daddy's here,
Beautiful,
Beautiful, beautiful,
Beautiful Boy,
Before you go to sleep,
Say a little prayer,
Every day in every way,
It's getting better and better,
Beautiful,
Beautiful, beautiful,
Beautiful Boy,
Out on the ocean sailing away,
I can hardly wait,
To see you to come of age,
But I guess we'll both,
Just have to be patient,
Yes it's a long way to go,
But in the meantime,
Before you cross the street,
Take my hand,
Life is just what happens to you,
While your busy making other plans,
Beautiful,
Beautiful, beautiful,
Beautiful Boy,
Darling,
Darling,
Darling Sean.
